Dear students,
Literature is a very wide and interesting
topic. This is an “umbrella topic”. You will choose your own issue within this
theme. This project will also give you the skills you need to successfully meet
the demands of the Bagrut project
STEP 2: Choose a topic on literature. You
will be offered a list of suggested topics but you are welcome to initiate your
own ideas.
STEP 3: Come up with a research question. All
questions must be approved by me. I
will set up a special forum on the school website for you to post your topics
and ideas for research questions. You will be able to share ideas and receive
feedback from one another. Participation in the forum is mandatory.
STEP 4: Dividing the work. Each person in
the group should have a side within the topic and job responsibilities. This
can be done again throughout work on the project.
STEP 5: Researching your topic. The next
step of the project is gathering information from at least three sources. At
least one source has to be a "primary source" (an interview or a
questionnaire. This will be gone over in class). The other two sources can be
from the Internet, but they have to be reliable sources. At least one of the
Internet sources should be from an academic or organizational website (.org,
.edu).
STEP 6: Summarizing the main ideas and
information from your sources. This will be done in class. From these main
ideas, you will create the project. These summaries will be included in your
final paper.
STEP 7: Outlining your paper. Organize the
information you have gathered into an outline. This will help you write the
final paper and help to delegate the tasks.
STEP 8: Writing the first draft. Each person
in the group will write a section of the paper.
STEP
9: Editing the paper. You will each review the paper and make any necessary
changes. You will also turn in the draft and get comments and suggestions from
me.
STEP 10: Make any changes and turn in the
final paper. See the checklists to make sure you are not missing anything. See
the rubric for how you will be graded.
STEP 11: Oral presentation. You will prepare
an oral presentation for the class, explaining the topic and findings. Each
student within each group should decide on a "side" and present it to
the whole class. Notice: you don't have
to actually believe in what you have chosen – as long as you present it with at
least three valid arguments.
Review the rest of this packet for all the
requirements, directions, checklists, and rubrics.
I look forward to guiding you through this
enriching and challenging process.
Sincerely,
Your English teacher
Manal Abbas
